1. How to improve in IELTS Speaking?
→Firstly, my suggestion is to speak slow. You'll end up pausing a lot if you try to speak fast. It sounds better speaking slowly and fluently other than fast and doing um um every 5 seconds. Secondly, stop the habit of translating the sentence first in your mind and then try to speak it. That's what most of us do. Practice will make you better. Talk with yourself every day. Watch movies with American accent and try to copy. You must have already practiced Academic Cambridge Brooks. Go to Speaking section and answer those questions like you would do in the final test. Then there are few Discord servers where you can practice with other people(Search for it). Plus, a lot of good YouTube Channels have speaking test videos of Band 7/8/9. Follow those. Find someone to practice speaking in English and watch movies and try to imitate them. These are the easiest and most effective ways.
2. IELTS Preparation in 1 Month?
Statement: I am planning to sit
for IELTS before October this year My target is to get band 7. I am HSC-21
Student. Now my questions are -
§ Do I need any coaching or something or I just can do it by myself studying at home?
§ Can anyone give me a guideline how can I study at home for band 7 in 1-1.5 Months?
§ And suggest me some useful websites or apps to get the desired band score
→1. Trust me, you don't need any coaching. You
can totally study at home. (However, there's a 7k worth package for 2 weeks at
St johns if you INSIST for a guideline. I heard they take mocks and give you
feedback that can get your writing to 7+.)
2. I gave my
test last June just by studying at home for less than a month. I practiced mock
listening and reading tests from ieltsonlinetests. The tests are very similar to actual
computer-based IELTS as they provide highlighting tools. You can also solve the
Cambridge 11-16, which is the standard. Get the head start tips before sitting
for mocks from E2 IELTS or IELTS Liz, then start your mocks.

3. Which Course best for IELTS?
→Suggestion for IELTS:
For the listening test: go for
the recent Cambridge IELTS (8-15), AND IT'S listening part given on YouTube. (From
personal experience - you'll get breaks in between listening parts for
checking your answers. I'd suggest, instead of checking written answers, start
reading the next part and highlight keywords. It will come in handy once the
speaker starts.
Reading: Read and read (it is the
most frightening part for a HSC candidate from Bangla medium.)
Writing: Udemy- Mastering
IELTS Writing: Task 2 (Achieve Band 7+ in 6 Hours) (available in torrentBD) this
is the best one(I used this one and achieved 7 in writing. I came to know about
this course at the last moment and mentors also, rigorous when it comes to
writing score). People with high listening, reading, speaking score fails to
achieve good writing marks just cuz they don't know(most of the time) the
writing rules and methods.
Speaking: Be confident and
practice.
4. Last minute tips or advice for IELTS?
→Practice speaking for an
hour or more before getting out for the exam. Once you achieved the fluency It
will stay for a while. So, in the actual interview you will achieve greater
fluency. It worked for me.
Also I would suggest to practice listening before you go out for the exam. At
least complete one listening test from ieltsonlinetests.com, It really helps.
If you don't have that much time to complete a whole listening test then just
try to complete section 4 from multiple tests. If you feel like you aren’t good
enough answering maps (in listening), I would suggest you to try one or two map
questions. I did that but luckily I did not encounter any map in the test.
5. What's the difference between IELTS & TOEFL? Is both
necessary? How to select University? How to prepare for GRE & IELTS?
→First of all, TOEFL and
IELTS both are English competency tests. You don't need both. IELTS is more
British English oriented and TOEFL is for American English. Both have
acceptance in the whole world but IELTS is clearly ahead in this run
(commonwealth fact).
You can go for GRE. All you need
is a good score. After achieving a score, you can e-mail professors about your
eagerness to work on a topic. If the professor has research or works on that
topic he will choose you if you're competent enough. Here comes the
publications or your own research. You actually don't need it. But some professors
ask for these things to find out on whom he's going to spend his fundings.

6. Can you tell me about the computer-based exam? I’m planning to give IELTS and am not sure about the difference?
→Computer based exam is different from paper
based one in many different ways like,
1. The whole test (LRW) is
conducted on a computer, you have to type/select your answers
2. You don’t need to fill the
necessary information’s like date, your name, center code and stuff rather they
will provide you a username and password before every section, you put them in
and start answering. No extra hassle
3. You can highlight any text.
Select the txt then press right mouse button to highlight
4. They will provide you a piece
of a4 paper and pencil, if you have to take note (which usually u don’t need
to) you can use that.
5. When sit in front of the computer
before the test starts, never press anything like 'proceed' or 'start test'
buttons before they ask you to do, if you didn’t hear the instructor, ask him
again because if you press anything without confirmation you might get
expelled. One guy in the exam hall was almost getting expelled because of
pressing a button before the exam started.
6. You can get yourself familiar
with the software you will be using to conduct the test here.
7. If your typing is really slow
consider before deciding.
8. You can get your result within
3 days if u did the computer delivered test but for paper based you might have
to wait 7 days.
7. IELTS can now be registered with NID instead of Passport??
→Booking your IELTS test with the
British Council has become easier than ever. You can now book your test dates,
time-slots and pay the fee online at your comfort. All you need is your valid
passport or NID to complete the registration.

8. Can anyone tell me what documents I have to take with me to pay the application fees for IELTS to the bank?
→There are three stages to booking your IELTS test:
- Check the availability and select your test date (you will need to select a separate test date for your Speaking test).
- Create an account with the British Council.
- Book and pay.
- If you are under 18, you will need your parent or guardian to book the test for you.
Please note:
To continue with this booking you will need:
• An identification document of the test taker. Make sure you have a photocopy or a photo of the identification document at hand, as you will need to upload this as part of the booking process.
• A payment card (if online payment option is available and you wish to pay online)
9. IELTS Recheck Refund
Statement: Hi, I have appeared in the IELTS exam on last July. After receiving my initial result, I have applied for a recheck and my band score improved. The IELTS authority had told me that if there's any improvement in the band score, then they would refund me. However, it's been more than 1 month, they haven't contacted me for this. I called their office quite a few times, but every time they keep on reassuring me by saying that it would be delivered soon. Did anyone face the same issue? If so, how long does it take to get the refund.
→ It usually takes 2 weeks for revaluation refund.
IDB or British Council? if its IDB, they sometimes take more than 3-4 weeks.
10. GRE or IELTS , OR both? Which one should I pursue to get a scholarship in MS(master of science)?
→ Both, if you want to target North America or Top institutions!
You should look at the websites of the universities that you have target first. Many universities require only IELTS with SAT of course . But some require both.
And if you target Canada IELTS should be enough for most universities . But still go to their websites. And compare what you need. But first make a list of your target universities .
