Infections

Knee pain is also caused by an infection in the knee joint.

Baker's cyst

The knee joint usually contains a certain amount of fluid. It is also called synovial fluid, which helps to avoid friction and allows easy joint movement. In some cases, this synovial fluid is over-produced and accumulates in the back of the knee. When this fluid accumulates, a cyst is formed which is called Baker's cyst. From that the joints become stiff and the pain starts.

Osteoarthritis is a

condition in which the tissues become stiff and the cartilage of the joints is damaged and pain begins.

Rheumatoid arthritis

It is an autoimmune condition in which the body destroys its own tissues, causing pain and damage to various joints throughout the body, when the body's own ability to fight against infection continues to work against the body. In this condition the joints of the two knees are connected. In most cases the joints of the fingers are affected first and as the disease progresses, the joints of the knees, ankles and wrists are also affected.

Arthritis An

increase in the amount of uric acid in the body creates a painful condition in the joints called arthritis.

What is the treatment for knee pain?

If left untreated over time, knee pain can worsen, so seek medical attention immediately to determine the true cause of knee pain. You can try some home remedies before going to the doctor.

Home Remedies for Knee Pain

Some home remedies can be taken to alleviate mild to moderate pain. These include RICE (Rice) therapy, Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation.

  • Rest: Rest is one of the main home remedies for knee pain. If you feel pain in the knee while doing any work, stop that work immediately, rest the knee to avoid additional pain and do not damage the joint more.
  • Ice Bake: Occasional ice packs or ice packs throughout the day and before going to bed can reduce pain and redness in the joints of the knees.
  • Baking bandages: A bandage can be placed around the knee joint (not too light or too tight) to hold the ligament in place and reduce pain. It can be used all day but it must be removed at night.
  • Lifting: Raising both knees with a pillow under the knee joint can reduce pain and relax the joint.

If the pain does not go away with home remedies, your doctor may suggest the following steps:

Rest

Your doctor will advise you to rest with the application of medication. If there is an infection or injury, resting the knee joint will make you feel better and heal faster.

Painkiller

Anti-inflammatory non-steroids (NSAIDs) drugs, including paracetamol, Ibuprofen, can reduce light to moderate pain; If the pain is severe, your doctor may recommend an injection or hospitalization.

Physiotherapy

Physical therapy as prescribed by a physiotherapist can reduce knee pain. Again, with regular therapy, pain can be completely cured in most cases.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a type of sensory stimulation of the nerves that helps reduce pain. It is one of the most popular alternative therapies used to reduce chronic pain.

Surgery

When pain cannot be reduced with physical therapy or medication, your doctor may recommend surgery based on the underlying cause. Some of the known surgical procedures to deal with knee pain are-

  • Ligament repair: Like a tight band, the ligament holds the knee joint. This ligament is damaged by any injury and pain starts in the joints. Those ligaments are surgically held in place by artificial means.
  • Knee replacement: If the damaged joint of the knee cannot be treated with medication or the ligament cannot be repaired, the doctor may recommend a complete knee replacement when the damaged part of the knee is removed and metal or plastic is placed there. This is a surgical procedure that requires at least 2-3 months of rest in bed after surgery and the use of artificial knees should be kept to a minimum until they are completely healed. A complete knee replacement helps reduce pain and improves mobility.
  • Debridement: This procedure involves inserting an instrument called an arthroscope through a small hole in the joint of the knee joint and removing the loose waste (small waste tissue) along with the corresponding tissue in the joint. These tissues can be called fibrous bursa-attached tissue attachments or bones or tendons that are joined due to injury or trauma to any tissue. This can make the knee joint work better.

Post-Surgical

Knee Pain Problems: Many patients experience pain even after a knee replacement. There are several reasons behind this. It remains to be seen at what stage the patient underwent surgery. If the patient undergoes surgery after the leg is bent a lot, walking in that way for a long time can cause pain in the knee. In many cases the alignment is not completely fixed. There may be pain for him even after surgery. Any kind of infection can cause pain. However, this pain goes away after a while. When the artificial knee begins to decay 15-20 years after surgery, the pain can also be caused by that decaying particle. Infections in other parts of the body can also cause pain.

Sophisticated treatment of knee pain PRP:

PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma Intervention is a state-of-the-art medical procedure. It is now being used in various treatments. This is a very effective method of treating pain, especially in knee pain. In case of PRP treatment, 20 cc of blood is taken from the body of the patient. The plasma is separated from the blood by placing it in a specific container and using a centrifuge machine. Which contains a large amount of platelets and other factors. This plasma is then injected into the affected area.

In some cases this PRP is given by looking at the affected area with the help of ultrasound machine. When it is given at the site of pain, it releases local growth factor which helps to heal wounds of muscle tendons or ligaments and reduces pain. It basically treats the root cause of pain so it is a very effective treatment method. As well as pain medication not only reduces the pain but the root cause remains and deepens. PRP is highly effective for any type of knee injury.
