How to Use Tap to Pay with Google Wallet [Tutorial]

Google Wallet (formerly Google Pay) is a digital wallet app that stores debit/credit cards, loyalty cards, and more. It supports contactless payments in stores, apps, and online using your phone.

Requirements for Tap to Pay

1. NFC must be enabled

(Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences > NFC)

2. Card must be from a supported country

3. Google Wallet must be set as default payment app

How to Set Up Tap to Pay

1. Open the Google Wallet app

2. Tap your profile > Payment setup

3. Make sure NFC is turned on

4. Set Google Wallet as default payment app

5. Add a credit/debit card and complete verification

6. Check card status:

-Card not set up → Finish setup

-Turn on NFC → Enable in settings

-Card suspended → Contact your bank

7. Set a screen lock (PIN, pattern, or fingerprint)

How to Pay in Store

1. Wake and unlock your phone

   -  Note: Face unlock doesn’t work on Pixel 7/7 Pro

2. No need to open the Wallet app

3. Hold your phone near the payment terminal

4. A blue check mark will confirm the payment

Tip: On foldables (like Pixel Fold), keep the phone folded while paying. This feature makes checkout fast, secure, and card-free.
